We went away skiing with the Pisctiottas and Mulvaneys back in February to Loon Mountain. Owen and Evan did a three hour lesson, and they showed great promise. After the lesson, they convinced Uncle Tom to take them up the chair lift to a smaller hill, and they skiied it liek crazy. the next morning, even though the conditions were rough, they were back it for a few hours. Liam took his snowboard and did an all day lesson, and he too was coming down the bigger hill at the end of the day, although his confidence just wasn't there.
The place we rented was giant, and everyone had plenty of room to run around and play. All the kids got along so well, and they all at least started each night sleeping in the downstairs area while watching Wall-E. Tom and I, in a "Know how I know you're gay" moment, spent some time in the OUTDOOR hot tub. No one else dared go out because it was so flippin cold.
The next weekend we took the boys up to McIntyre in Manchester with Michelle and Austin. I stood loyally at the base of the mountain while the boys went up and down a million times. I played the role of the dog sitting on the doorstep waiting for the kid to come home. These guys would zoom by, do a quick wave, and then jump back on the lift. Liam nailed his goal of being able to conquer the beginner hill without a fall, and by the end of the day, his confidence was picking up and he started doing the "trails". Nancy rented skis at mid day, but only lasted one run, so I grabbed her stuff and headed up. I haven't been skiing in 16 years, and by the end of the day, I must say that I was doing quite well. Granted, it's McIntyre, but I was very happy.
Next up, the boys and I went to Sunapee with Uncle Billy. Thank God Billy was there because I still suck. He trained Owen and Evan and got them to start turning and controlling themselves. Meanwhile, Liam was shredding this mountain like no tomorrow. He was flying down the hills, grooving back and forth, and was doing a great job. At the end of the day, we took the quad up to the tipity top. Evan basically pooped his pants when he got off the lift and looked down the mountain. It took him halfway down the mountain of falling and crying before he got himself composed and doing things right. Again, thanks to Uncle Billy. Liam and Owen waited ahead, and we all finished the bottom section together. Liam lagged a little behind, and we were getting nervous. That's when Billy saw a woman trying to help someone who flew off the trail at the very end. Yep, that was Liam, whi missed the absolut last turn at the very bottom and went crashing through the ropes. Man, you should have seen those bruises.
Tomorrow, we're heading up to Crotched, I think, as the boys have the day off, and next weekend we are heading back to Loon with the Mulvaneys. So much fun.

- Nancy and I had a nice night out in Manchester at Gauchos and then to see Celtic Woman. We have to do things like that more often.
- Flag football starts soon: Get ready for those updates.
